Its location between the southern shore of Lake Ontario and the Niagara Escarpment provides for a moderate climate with mild winters. Vineland and the surrounding area is known in Canada for its orchards, vineyards, wineries and restaurants that feature local produce and wines. Vineland's fruit crops include cherries, peaches, apples and pears. The area is recognized as Canada's premier tender fruit region; research on growing tender fruits in Canada is centred at the Vineland Research Station.
Vineland hosts a large craft fair that takes place on Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. Craft stalls are set up on the main street, Victoria Avenue, and at the Ball's Falls Conservation Area. This festival also extends into the ball park in neighbouring town of Jordan.
The First Mennonite Church in Vineland, adjacent to the cemetery at the corner of Regional Road 81 (former Highway 8) and Martin Road, organized in 1801, is the oldest Mennonite congregation in Canada.
Vineland formerly hosted a local pub, the “Green Valley”. This was the only pub in the municipality, however it was closed down due to financial matters. The pub was known to host many local bands and musicians.
Vineland also has one of the only “Avondale” food stores that contains an LCBO inside.
Vineland has a multitude of antique stores, such as "Granny’s Boot" and “Vineland Antiques”. Vineland is known for it’s local fruit markets and florists. There are many small wineries such as No. 99, Wayne Gretsky Estates, Tawse Winery Storefront, Stoney Ridge, and the notorious Vineland Estates Winery, located on Moyer Rd (intercepting with the main street, Victoria Ave.) Independent wineries are some of Vineland and its neighboring town’s prime exports. Vineland contributes to Niagara’s wine export greatly and is located in prime location for some of the world’s best wine.
